Common Signs You May Need Auto Electrical Repair
Electronic Issues in Cars & Trucks
1. Slow or No Crank condition
2. Battery Constantly Dying
3. Dashboard Lights Flickering
4. Electrical Accessories Failing
5. Burning Smell or Melted Wiring
6. Check Engine Light
7. Intermittent No Start
Slow or No Crank condition - When you turn the key and the engine turns over slowly or doesn't turn over at all .
Battery Constantly Dying - Your Vehicles Battery repeatedly loses its charge requiring frequent jump starts or battery replacement.
Dashboard Lights Flickering - Your cars instrument panel lights (or headlights) rapidly dim and brighten. This usually points to fluctuating voltage output from your vehicles alternator.
Electrical Accessories Failing - Your vehicles components like power windows, seat heaters, radio, or air conditioning fan stop working or work intermittently. This usually means the vehicle is running on a low voltage condition. Your vehicles computer (ECU) prioritizes essential systems shutting down non-essential accessories to conserve power for vital functions of your car or truck.
Burning Smell or Melted Wiring - You notice an odor that smells like burning rubber or plastic. Sometimes you may even see smoke or melted wire insulation. This is a very serious sign of an electrical short and requires immediate attention because it is a fire hazard!
Check Engine Light or Charging System Light - You see an orange or red Battery symbol with a + or - lights up on your vehicles dashboard. This indicates a fault in the charging system. Your vehicles onboard computer detected an issue that is affecting your vehicles engine operation. This can sometimes be triggered by an extreme voltage fluctuation or failure of your vehicles charging system to maintain the correct operating voltage.
Intermittent No Start - Sometimes your car starts fine but fails to start at other times with no clear pattern. Often this is a sign of a corroded (loose) connection. This may temporarily break the circuit due to an engine vibration or even a temperature change.
