The Risk of Major Engine Damage Due To Faulty Fuel Injectors
Signs your vehicles Fuel injectors may need service or replacement
A vehicle experiencing multiple fuel injector symptoms should be inspected & diagnosed immediately to prevent even more costly severe engine damage.
Risks of Major Engine Damage
Piston and Valve Damage: An imbalanced air/fuel mixture (too Lean or rich) leads to improper combustion. If the mixture is too lean then your cars engine runs hotter than designed which can warp and/or burn the pistons and valves
Hydro-Locking: If an injector becomes stuck open then raw fuel can leak into a cylinder. Since fuel is a liquid and cannot be compressed then attempting to start your vehicles engine can bend a connecting rod or cause a catastrophic engine failure (hydro-locking)
Oil Dilution and/or Bearing Damage: Leaking fuel can wash past the piston rings and mix with the engine oil your vehicles engines crankcase. This then dilutes the oil, reducing your cars lubrication effectiveness and leads to rapid wear on your engine bearings plus other internal components.
Damage to Other of your vehicles Components
Catalytic Converter Failure and Fouled Spark Plugs. Replacing your vehicles catalytic converter can become very expensive. Combined with replacing fouled spark plugs adds an additional expense on top of that components replacement.
Safety Concerns
Fire Hazard:
Fuel leaks are an obvious fire hazard because fuel may drip onto hot exhaust components.
Unsafe Driving conditions:
Engine stalling surging, & poor acceleration create unpredictable vehicle behavior especially when driving at high speeds.
Being Stranded:
Continuing to drive with these symptoms can lead to a sudden & complete engine failure or breakdown.
By addressing your vehicles fuel injector issue early and often through an experienced auto repair mechanic or service for a professional cleaning is crucial for maintaining your vehicles health, safety, & avoiding costly long term & extensive auto repair bills down the road!
