Texas is adding Bexar County to its vehicle emissions Inspection and Maintenance program.
Beginning November 1, 2026, qualifying gasoline-powered vehicles registered in Bexar County must pass an annual emissions inspection before registration can be renewed.
What Bexar County drivers need to know:

This is an emissions inspection, not the former annual Texas general safety inspection that was eliminated for most non-commercial vehicles in January 2025.
Electric vehicles, diesel-powered vehicles, motorcycles and mopeds are not subject to the standard annual emissions testing requirement.
