Do Mercedes require special diagnostic tools?

Yes. Specifically for Check Engine Light Codes require specialized diagnostic tools.

How often should my Mercedes be serviced?

Most Mercedes-Benz models require service every 10,000 miles or once a year. Some services such as brakes, cooling systems, oil changes may need attention far sooner.

IIs my Mercedes-Benz more expensive to repair than other vehicles?

Yes. Mercedes are generally more expensive to repair. Higher than Asian (Even luxury) & Economy brands.

Luxury brand premium, Specialized labor, Parts/Specialty fluids w/a 41% will require major repair during its first ten years of service which is higher than most.

Why does my Mercedes sit lower on one side after parking overnight?

It's a classic symptom of a leak in the AIRMATIC air suspension system which is common in the S-Class, GLE, & GLS models. The Texas heat causes the rubber air springs to develop micro-cracks over time. If you ignore the hissing sound or sagging the air compressor will have to run constantly to compensate. It leads to compressor burnout.

IIs A and B service enough for San Antonio driving?

Mercedes Benz recommends service every 10k miles; however Kool2U recommends a mid cycle oil change at 5,000 miles due to the Texas heat in spring and summer. Service B includes a brake fluid change every 2 years which is critical in the high humidity because moisture can enter the brake system.

Why does my engine vibrate when I'm stopped at a red light?

If your steering wheel vibrates while idling but smooths out when you start driving your engine mounts most likely need attention soon. Mercedes uses a liquid filled hydraulic engine mounts to provide that signature smooth ride. The intense heat under the hood of a V6 or V8 engines causes the rubber to harden and the fluid to leak out. This is especially true in C-Class and E-Class models driven in stop and go traffic.

Why does my Mercedes not start after a quick stop at HEB?

The Texas heat is a Mercedes battery killer. It causes heat induced internal evaporation. You might be experiencing "heat soak" failure which is were the battery works fine for the first start of the morning but fails to crank after the engine bay reaches 140 degrees. Life expectancy for batteries is 2 to 3 years in Texas.

Do I really need to change the transmission fluid on my Mercedes since Mercedes Benz states it is a lifetime transmission fluid?

Yes. Mercedes transmissions are masterpieces of engineering BUT no fluid is actually lifetime. Our recommendation for maximum longevity is to schedule that service between 40k and 60k miles regardless of the "lifetime" label.
